Partouche, a major leader in entertainment, has been a provider of emotions since 1973, making gaming its core business. Present throughout France and Europe with numerous establishments, Partouche entertains individuals all year round in a festive and friendly atmosphere. Pioneers in various fields, Partouche places innovation at the centre of its concerns like Megapot, Cashless, online Bingo, virtual reality, etc.
With the same vision in mind, Partouche Multiverse was created. Striving to become a major player in the Web3 space, Partouche aims to unite a community and integrate blockchain technology into all its operations.
Joker Club celebrates the iconic character, Joker, a figure that has traversed time and left a significant impact on the world. This NFT community aims to propagate the Joker Spirit—a philosophy of entertainment characterized by madness, fantasy, boldness, and originality. Driven by its community, Joker Club offers an immersive entertainment experience, enriched with fresh perspectives and accessible through Web3, akin to the approach taken by Partouche establishments like Casinos and hotels.
Comprising 8,888 NFTs, each representing a unique image with distinct attributes, players gain exclusive ownership of these Joker images, allowing them the option to resell. The Joker Club is categorized into four families:
Joker Club provides an objective space for individuals to explore and engage with the unique world of Joker NFTs, emphasizing ownership and trading possibilities within a structured framework.
The concept is to redefine the casino experience by implementing augmented reality experiences through a mobile application. This application will allow users to "capture" hidden rewards in the 42 Partouche casinos. The more rewards users capture, the more substantial advantages they will gain.
I was responsible for the overall sprint management in terms of methodology.
As a UX Researcher and Designer, my responsibilities included:
On our first day, we initiated the process by thoroughly examining the stakeholders' brief, which allowed us to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the context, users, and content associated with the Joker Club community.
As the user profile is defined by Partouche, we created a persona illustrating primary needs and expectations for the challenge. We then began concentrating on these to enhance the framework of our creative and strategic thinking.
To refine the understanding of users' needs in the language of design, I crafted a macro user journey outlining the key steps that a user might go through when engaging with the prospective immersive product proposed by Partouche. Concurrently, through discussions with my teammates, we initiated work on various design challenges arising from communication, user journey, visual design, and technical evaluation.
# The idea
The macro journey facilitated our progression into the exploration of ideas. Through research, we unearthed an intriguing connection between the Bingo game and our challenge. Additionally, Partouche is a pioneer in organizing both online and offline bingo games in France. We collectively held the belief that this game effectively embodies human contact in the real entertainment world and has the potential to revolutionize how people interact with the digital realm as well.
To delve deeply into how Bingo could be integrated with AR, we conducted a brainstorming centred around the persona and its macro journey. The aim was to gather as many ideas as possible and structure every individual interaction that users might experience, both online and offline with the Joker Club community. The user flow outlined the complete user experience, incorporating the use of AR techniques. This also provided us with a clear vision of the experience that we were going to design.
Certainly, within the framework of this sprint design, our primary focus was on the main design problem related to the tokenization of AR experiences in Partouche casinos. Drawing from the user flow, we extracted and prioritized all features to organize our design work in a more efficient and relevant manner.
My teammates Alexandre and Dweezil performed excellent design work within a limited timeframe. As depicted below, our initial delivery prioritized the onboarding segment, an essential component for enhancing user engagement from the beginning. Since the entire experience necessitated the use of two devices—the user's personal mobile phone for the app and a specific device in the casino—we directed our attention to the latter, which is crucial for supporting AR interactions in casinos. This involved addressing how users could participate in Bingo and subsequently tokenize potential rewards.
Due to time constraints, we conducted only 3 guerilla tests to assess the overall comprehensiveness and acceptability of the user experience. Given the hybrid nature of this interaction involving both online and offline components, as well as a switch between 2 devices, additional tests are necessary to identify and address potential issues for further improvement.

My teammate, Lyvia, focused on the development retroplanning, and Randy formulated a communication strategy primarily centred around Discord, a central channel for the Joker Club community. Their excellent efforts provided our design work with a more thorough assessment in terms of feasibility and credibility.
On the final day, we presented our outcomes to stakeholders from the project, and we were awarded the second prize (oh yeah 🎉) in the design sprint competition.
